Private Frederick Livingston

 

The background of this man is not known at present. Based on his stated place of birth, however, it is possible that he was the Frederick Livingston born at Toberhewny, Lurgan, County Armagh on 20 May 1900, one of at least eight children of weaver Joseph Livingston (or Levingston) and his wife Elizabeth (née McCormick).

Livingston enlisted at Armagh on 13 April 1917. He was described as being 5' 5" tall, and stated that he was 19 years old, was born in Shankill, County Armagh, and worked as a labourer.

Between 11 and 23 June 1917 he was posted to the North Irish Horse (regimental number 2490). He was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 9 July 1917. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
